SUMMARY
As a member of the UTi Enterprise
Information Management (EIM) team, the Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible
for the design, development, coding, testing, debugging and documentation of BI
application databases to satisfy the requirements of one or more user areas. The
Database Administrator (DBA) is an individual who understands the database
engine, database structure and the implications of the physical design. May include hands-on new
development as well as support, maintenance or enhancement of existing BI application
databases. Works closely with BI team members and other IT team members,
to research and evaluate alternative physical database design solutions and
makes recommendations.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø
This
position will report to the Senior Manager Enterprise Information Management
(EIM)
Ø
Maintaining and monitoring several Oracle
database instances in our BI Production environment
Ø Maintain database
security
Ø
Database installation, patching, and upgrades
Ø
Configuring, tuning and monitoring Oracle databases
Ø
Implementation of physical database designs,
changes & enhancements for Star & Snowflake schemas
Ø
Understanding of Cognos administration &
tuning and/or other similar BI tools
Ø Maintain and test database backup and disaster recovery plans and procedures
Ø Schedule production
runs and database maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Ø
A
degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, equivalent work experience of
7+ years overall IT or the equivalent combination of education, training and
experience from which comparable skills can be acquired
Ø Minimum
5 years of experience with Oracle database administration in a HP-UX & AIX
environment
Ø Minimum 5 years of experience with Shell,
SQLPLUS, and PL/SQL.
Ø Minimum 2 years experience working in an
Oracle 10g environment.
Ø Experience with Oracle Rac.
Ø Experience with Oracle BI Publisher desired.
Ø Experience with Oracle Application
Server and Cognos administration desired
Ø Informatica
PowerCenter 8.
Ø Database programming using PL/SQL and standard
built-in Oracle Packages.
Ø Development of PL/SQL Stored Procedures,
Functions, Triggers and Packages.
Ø Experience with Korn Shell scripts
